Very disappointing stay. We booked a Superior Suite and expected a little extra than you might get in Standard room. The good bits first we had a lounge area and a separate bedroom both of good size both nicely and freshly decorated. The bed was veru comfy but just a standard double. It was all quite clean and the staff were all very friendly.. Now the not so good bits. There was no fridge in the room (which their should have been) Their was a few wet patches on the carpet. The kettle didnt work properly (wouldnt connect to the base unless held down). Considering they were such big rooms their was hardly any furniture and only a two seater bench to sit on and watch tv or have a drink. Most uncomfortable. No hangars in the wardrobe. Small TV in comparison to the room size. What furniture (and carpet) was in the room was all a mismatch compared to the decor. I suppose the rooms are being refurbished gradually. It was very windy outside and obviously the hotel cant do much about that but the wind was catching something on the roof or in the loft and the noise was incredibly loud. Akin to a train thundering through a station all night long. For a Superior Suite i would expect at the very least a bottle of water and a few biscuits to be on offer but really for the money it was all very basic and was one of the worse 2 night stays i have had anywhere.

Very dog friendly

Nice location right opposite the beach - had our one year old dog with us and we all had a warm welcome and comfortable stay in a charming old hotel with bags of character thank you

A bit tired and dated!

Pros: Location was good
Cons: The overall "feel" of the place
Location: Did not venture out
Helpful staff at check-in and out. But the hotel is still set in the 60's and 70's. It's decor is very dark and gloomy, with the exception of the dining room and bar areas, which have a magnificent sea view. During dinner, the members of staff seemed hurried and under pressure. Service at the bar and in the restaurant was slow, despite not appearing to be too busy. The food at dinner was OK, nothing more. Breakfast was buffet style and I had no complaints.

A great place to stay

Location: Location excellent across from the beach and walking distance to the town.
Excellent hotel in every way, spacious and clean rooms. Have already rebooked to go back next month. Free car parking is a bonus.

Perfect spacious dog friendly hotel

Perfect location and a good nights sleep. Nice spacious bathroom. High ceilings and drapes. Felt a little dated decor wise but otherwise lovely.

All right for the price, far from stupendous

Superbly positioned on the Hastings seafront, Best Western's Royal Victoria Hotel had a slightly tired air of faded grandeur. It was spacious and reasonably comfortable, and the staff were all individually extremely friendly and helpful. However, money needs to be spent on giving this marvellously located, Victorian (?) building more internal glitter and zest. The decor was in dire need of upgrading, the bedroom not quite shabby, but in that direction - no pictureson the walls, windows stuck shut, the shower-over-the-bath not working ... The bar menu was fair, the food mediocre. The restaurant menu, untried, was frightful: stupidly expensive for a very limited choice shown on dog-eared menus. Overall, you could do worse, but the hotel could do a lot better.
