Have stayed here several times before as good location to explore Bristol. Staff friendly and had a bigger room than expected,which had been updated.

One to be avoided

Would not repeat. Air con broken. Mattress had all the springs coming through. Tea and coffee not replenished. Dirty bedding (not ours ) left on our room, noisy (kept awake at 3am, hanger for clothes over tea tray, staff rude.

not great stay in Jan.

My stay here was just ok. The heater/furnace was not working in my room so they brought in a plug in stand up heater. The shower drain did not drain well during shower. I had to request a body wash that was empty and pump did not work. They eventually moved me to another room and furnace worked but land line phone did not. :( they did fix the phone but also my first room had alot of noise not only from people in the hallway but people down below on the street late at night. It was not pleasant or quiet.

Great but bring ear plugs

The room was lovely. We did not sleep well due to a neighbour next to us being i considerate by having a loud conversation on the phone. We were up at 3:00am. The walls are thin and can hear everything. I was a bit dissapointed with that. You can hear people walking outside your room as rhe floor creaks alot

No sound insulation between rooms

The hotel is fine but I asked for a quiet room and it turned the walls on the second floor were paper thin. A group in the next room partied until 5am then started again at 10am and it was as if they were in the room with me. No sleep.

Booked this last minute for our wedding anniversary, I added a message on booking to say as such. When checking in we got a free room upgrade and a two complimentary drinks. Room and bed were large, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was nice and clean. Had robes and slippers(needed as bathroom tiles were cold!)

Disgusting, do not stay here

Disgusting. Do not stay here. Carpet in room heavily stained, bed sheets don’t fit so can’t be tucked in and you wake up on yellowing mattress. Rubbish in stairwell for over 24 hours. Do not stay here, there are so many better places to stay!

The Grand Hotel is in an excellent part of town. It is easily walkable to restaurants, the St Nikolas Market, and the shopping mall. The room itself was basic, but clean. The bar was welcoming and the staff friendly

Overall it was shocking, i had to change rooms in the evening and was met with a young rude boy boasting about his wage. Day staff lovely but he was awful, ruined it for me.

I thought other reviewers were perhaps just being a bit negative based on reviews I read and I went with an open mind, but I have to be honest and say I would not stay there again. It is not a very friendly or welcoming hotel. The foyer is beautiful, but the staff are the heart of a place and it just did not have a friendly or welcoming feel. The room was fine, but not worth the money it cost to stay. The walls are thin, you so will hear other guests. Great location, just a shame it doesn't have a nice feel to the place.
