Hair in bathroom from previous guests - avoid

Pros: Proximity to my work and also East Croydon Station
Cons: Cleanliness
Location: Worth visiting BoxPark
I'll keep it short. Bathroom was not vacuumed properly and so I was disgusted to be see hair and reported it. Was told to email the general manager which I did with photos. No response from manager. Paid nearly a ton for one night and the very least, expected a clean room. Sadly I didn't get it and the (lack of) response is even more depressing.

Parking via a subway and a large shopping centre

Pros: Nothing stood out
Cons: Updated, better information regarding parking and leisure facilities. More welcoming and relaxing environment, its very sterile and lifeless.
The hotel is tired and lacks soul. The nearest parking is a good 5-10 minute walk under a subway (no way to cross the dual carriage way) into a large shopping centre and out to a car park at the back. The shopping centre is confusing to navigate if you havent been before. The leisure facilities are busy and dont feel like part of the Hotel. The room was small but comfortable.

Perfect for Shopping

The Landsdowne is not the best looking hotel from the outside and nothing really to write home about. Standard bedroom depressing, superior bedroom was more like a standard bedroom, not all that. However, it was very clean with the added bonus of having the use of a proper gym and pool attached to the hotel. Unfortunately didn't bring my kit so did not use the gym but observed a lot of people going in and out of the gym so must be fairly good. My whole purpose was to have a break with my sister, who has a learning disability, and shop till we dropped. This we accomplished very well as the hotel was across the road from the Whitgift shopping centre in Croydon. Ideal location. Even though there was a bar and cafe attached to the hotel would have loved to have had breakfast in bed. Compared to other hotels I have stayed at, in and around Croydon, this is an average hotel. Having said that this is only the second time that I have come across a staff team that are fantastic. When I stopped here last week, the lift was out of order. My sister, who has breathing difficulties found it very difficult having to climb to the third floor. After speaking to the staff at the front desk the following morning, within the hour I was on my way to a more suitable room. ALL the staff, ladies who cleaned the rooms, young men who helped with the cases and front desk-day and night, are exceptional and would go back just for the service of the friendly, welcoming staff. Had a very pleasant stay.

Could have been better

Had to change rooms 4 times the first night. Bath tubs and toilets had stains and looked unkempt. Night staff, Valentine, was quite helpful. Eventually settled for a "Superior Double Room" which was recently renovated. The bathroom was just by the exterior wall, hence was really really cold. Throughout the stay, housekeeping never visited. Toiletries, towels etc were not replenished. I guess, if you are paying this amount, thats what you should expect. So, in other words, its good value for the money you pay,
