You can even drive your vehicle directly on the beach. Fort Matanzas State Park can provide an excellent little adventure with a free boat ride from the National Park Service to the island fort. Go fishing under the 206 bridge, and no one will ever know you are not a local.

If you are looking for a little more during your vacation, the downtown historic district of Saint Augustine is just a few minutes to the north. You can take in the enormous fort, Castillo de San Marcos, or an event at Francis Field. The Fountain of Youth, Ripley’s Believe it or Not, St. George Street, Ghost Tours, Romantic Carriage Rides, and much more await.
