Expected a busy hotel this time of but it wasn't. Room was clean and well maintained. Recently refurbished bathroom, not sure who fitted the shower curtain but they missed a couple of eyelets. Confit pork belly evening meal and french onion soup were gery tasty and the buffet breakfast was very good and good value for money if pre booked.

Despite the tiny shower in a relatively large bathroom and the room being a bit tired, the hotel was excellently located (3 minute walk from the New Street station), public areas comfortable, breakfast lovely and the service was very good!

Room was nice but sofa bed was not prepared so had to wait for staff to make up the bed. Not good when we arrived late and wanted to get the kids to bed quickly. The other thing that was really very sad is the personal hygiene of a couple of members of staff - why hasn’t the manager or senior staff met with them to give advice/support and maybe offer cleaning products for free to help?? The stink of body odor hit us walking through the entrance. I thought it was a customer in the waiting area of Reception. It was so strong, such a shame and not the welcome I was expecting to deal with. It spoilt the beginning of our stay. Sadly the two members of staff that helped to make up the bed in our room were two of the people that required some sort of discussion with management about their body odor. We had to open the window wide open and also the hotel door to try and clear the smell before we could sort anything else. What a shame no one has highlighted this to them. It puts a big impact on how the hotel comes across, despite the lovely decor and breakfast which were great. I know this sounds like I’m being horrible but if customers are dealing with this it’s not good. We will not be returning anyway but it’s my advice to the management to get something sorted please.
