Easy stay for 1 night

Central hotel with no thrills, in the middle of Chinatown. 10min walk from Birmingham New Street. Round the corner from the bull ring & round the corner for coach pick up for Aston Villa events. Bar & restuarant was better than the room, which needs renovating so looking forward to these improvements once completed.

My floor was under construction but they made every effort to move me but I still left early. The whole hotel was being worked on removing doors, painting etc

I reserved 3 rooms, after checking in late went to the room and noticed signs for construction in the elevator. We were on the forth floor apparently the heart of the construction, at 0830 the qork vrews started to drill, sand, bang and just be louds riggt outside our door. Ironically thwre is a sign when you get of the elevator ro please be quit. Apparently does not apply to them. Hoping to sleep in after a long day was not happening. Staff apologized and acknowledge the problem and stated corporate would not let them post online there was active construction. And asked for us to please complain because this was an ongoing problem with corporate apparently, corporate does not care about their guests as much as the staff in the hotel it, but they are directed by corporate on what to do I was not overly pleased after complaining they refunded me the half of One room, i had the opportunity to stay at another ibis the next day, when I returned towards the airport but I chose not to i bet you to say this will be my first and only experience staying at an Ibis. I forgot to mention two out of the three air conditioners did not work. If they are doing construction, they should not be renting the rooms directly outside. where they're working, this was unacceptable. But obviously they were aware!!!

The hotel was central, convenient and clean. It would have been better to have an earlier check in .... but i appreciate it was busy. The TV in my original room did not work and the receptionist simply changed my room. The room was quiet and the morning breakfast was tasty. Enjoyable Stay

Good location, but needs a refurb

Great location. Rooms are well appointed with comfortable beds. Carpets are in need of replacing as very worn and stained, so bring slippers! Very helpful reception and bar staff

Pleasant hotel in good location

The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful. They kept our bag in safe storage until we could check in. The room was small but had everything we needed. Breakfast was very good with a good selection of hot and cold food.

Couldn't get any worse

So disappointed hve used other Ibis hotels far better.. bed awful stains , slept on top of duvet .. lifts took ages to get to where you wanted to go and breakfast not best bacon like rubber eggs chewy no marmalade orange juice tasted watered down .. The staff were very pleasant which is a shame the rest let the place down .. room key didn't work up and down in lifts to reception..

Definitely do not recommend staying at this hotel. There is a courtyard of nightclubs including one right at the bottom of the hotel that will be pumping loud music till 4:00am, yes you read that right 4am…. Ear plugs don’t help as the vibrations will keep you up. The room is super basic and poorly cleaned, found gross hairs in the bed and the front desk staff could have careless to fix the issue. More in line with a hostel than a hotel. Extremely disappointed with this stay to say the least and will never stay there again. Find somewhere else to stay that won’t be a massive let down and distraction on your vacation.

Average hotel, great location

Great location in the centre of Birmingham next to Chinatown and only 5 mins walk from New Street station. Our family room was a good size but the bathroom was dangerous. If I had been on my own, I would have been trapped in there because the door wouldnt open from the inside. The hotel fixed the problem temporarily that evening, but the situation should never have happened.

Liked the hospitality at the venue. RAJU bhai in specific was very helpful and accommodating. Good hot breakfast spread and surrounded by multiple key landmarks.. including bull ring area.

If you enjoy staying in a tatty, run down hotel which is boiling hot as the super noisy air con doesn’t work then this is the place for you!! One of the least comfortable beds I have slept in, my back the next day was so sore. I couldn’t check in on arrival at 6pm (room was supposed to be ready at 3pm) and the receptionist was rude and aggressive. Thankfully at 10pm after my evening appointment (which I couldn’t freshen up for) the new receptionist was nicer. The morning receptionist promised to email my receipt but didn’t bother. At £117 a night I expect better. I was due to visit again but have cancelled and booked elsewhere. Don’t stay here.

The issue for us is that we were on level 1. Directly underneath 1 of our rooms (on the side of the hotel that looks out into a square of china towns clubs and bars), was a very very noisy bar, with incredibly loud music that boomed all the way through till 3am. We couldn't move rooms as they only had 1 left on the same side as the noise. Our other room on the other side of the corridor was a lot quieter but the bass could still be felt. We stayed on a Saturday night. I've no idea if this is only an issue on Saturdays or on other days too. The double glazing helped to quieten the sound but nothing could stop things in the room rattling/shaking with the bass. The staff were fine, the rooms were clean, had fans and air con which was great in the heat wave. Beds comfy. Decent shower albeit very small bathrooms but if you can't sleep then the whole point of staying there is negated. Would not recommend this hotel and will not ever stay there again. Wish we had known before that there was bar/nightclub that backs on to the ground floor of this hotel.
