The room was beautiful and spotless. The free glass of Kylie prosecco on arrival set the mood. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Would definitely stay again and recommend. There was a bit of noise from the street below, but your staying on a party street and that what I expected.

Lovely hotel with real character. Loud music and noise from the canal side and bars until about 0430 am though, so not ideal if you actually want to sleep

Nice enough, clean, pleasant staff. Easy reach of the train station. Poor lighting. Automatic lights in the corridors which don’t always turn on, rooms are dark which makes it awkward when trying to locate switches and negotiating access to the rooms.

Style over substance. Poor, indifferent service on front desk. We stayed for 1 night at the end of November and our room was cold as the heating in the room wasn’t working. We were eventually moved to another room where the heating also wasn’t working but it was marginally less cold. No managers around at the weekend to make decisions. We had to follow up with the hotel when we got home to request a refund but were eventually given a paltry 20% refund. There was no ironing board to go with the iron. Breakfast is not a buffet but served to your room which was not made clear when we booked.

The location and building were lovely. The room was very spacious and nicely furnished! It can be a bit noisy on an evening from nearby bars but it wasn’t anything of an issue for me. Unfortunately on my stay the heating was not working and some others within the hotel had mentioned. So was a little bit cold in the room. Overall a nice stay! With nice staff!

A very weird experience. The only (300 GBP plus per night) hotel that doesn't clean the room during the stay. Broken AC. No hot water. Run by children with very little clue. Super noisy at weekends (but of course you are in the village so that's what you would expect) but trust me you will be at the party until 3am even if you are in bed. Room itself (velvet suite) was ok but the bathroom was so tiny it was basically unusable for big 6ft2 guys You spend less staying at the Lowery or the Gotham - and you should

Our stay at the Velvet was okay. We were upgraded to a balcony room on check-in which was great but on entering the room we found a discarded sex toy on the floor which was not ideal. We handed that to reception and were happy the rest of the room was clean. The main room itself was warm, and comfortable. The bathroom looked nice and had a statement bath but is in reality impractical. The bath wouldn't hold water and the shower leaked all over the floor so we used our towels each time to mop that up. There is no heated towel rail either so we had wet towels throughout our stay. The hotel is in a good central spot but I'm not sure we'll stay on our next visit

The air conditioning was stuck on cold so we had to turn it off. Stains on towel and bath robe. Mould on sealant in the shower. Our room wasn't cleaned very well. Continental breakfast was poor and pastries were stale. Very nice shower. Comfortable bed. Fantastic location in the heart of the city and near the railway station. Also a nice adjoining bar. But we would not stay here again.
