Dear Phillip, We are so sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your stay with us in full. As we are Grade 2 listed building unfortunately we are not able to make any major changes of the bedrooms. We hope to welcoming you back again! Kind regards, Team du Vin Harrogate

The check-in process was very disappointing, lacked any measure of "customer service" and nothing like I have previously experienced or anticipate for such a Hotel. The property itself is fine - it is an ageing property with lots of character, in a great location, nice rooms and usually very good service.

Great Located hotel but its looking a bit tired & grubby, the outside terrace is filthy with dirty tables, broken chairs with dirty cushions & very poor service, we ended up having to go elsewhere which is disappointing that you are unable to find anyone to serve you in your own hotel, other than the location & convenient parking (additional £10 per night) I would book elsewhere.

Very friendly, helpful and efficient service. Quick check in and check out. Lovely atmosphere and good facilities. My room (which was a basic room in the basement) was beautifully presented, warm and cosy, with a delightful private entrance from the street. It didn’t have an in-room information folder, but staff were very helpful and answered all my questions. Highly recommend.

Dear Anonymous Thank you for leaving your review. The basement rooms are very comfortable rooms as you mention and are a very popular choice for our guests as they do have their own private entrances. I will pass on your kind words to the staff

We have been going to this hotel for at least the last 3 years probably 2 to 3 times a year and never had any problems. we booked for 3 nights still good but no one informed us that the Bistro was closed for refurbishment and the staff on reception just had a very couldn't care less attitude even on check out no one asked if we had enjoyed our stay.

Thanks for the review. I`m sorry you were unaware that the Bistro was going through a full refurbishment. All of our 3rd party agents were informed about this. I can only apologise that you were not informed. I`m sorry the reception didn't offer any apologies regarding this and will be speaking to them in due course. We hope to see you back so we can give you the experience you deserve.

Not a relaxed visit as hoped

We recently stayed for two evenings (sunday and monday) and our first experience was unfortunately a feeling of being misled as the hotel specifications say there are (limited) car parking spaces available; this is true however, they neglect to mention the £10 per night price tag for the facility. The reception staff seemed a little disorganised when both checking in and out. When checking in i enquired about the spa facilities to which i was told ‘it might be open it might not’ however, he didn’t actually know and i’d have to come back the following morning. The room itself was faultless; it was very cosy and the bed extremely comfortable. The bathroom was also lovely. It seemed almost perfect had it not been for the late evening and then early morning noises! As the rooms are underneath part of the restaurant / bar, after the facilities closed, the staff then proceed to drag furniture around which sounds like a herd of elephants passing overhead (the floors above are wooden)! On the second night this was early in the morning which made the night sleep a lot shorter than hoped. Our visit was in the hope of enjoying a relaxing few days away however, was spoilt by very loud noises at very unsociable hours and in the end resulted in a restless and unrelaxed experience. I am getting married in the area in June and had previously made a booking to stay here the evening before; i have now cancelled this as a result of this stay!

Great hotel with good food and spacious rooms

Pros: The rooms were spacious and luxurious, and the food and wine were very good.
Cons: Service could be improved specifically within the restaurant
Location: Beautiful city
I was on a business trip with colleagues, and the hotel provided great accommodation and food to make sure we were refreshed.

Very nice hotel in centre

Excellent stay at this hotel. Dog-friendly so we ate in the bar. We chose from the Bistro menu which was ok but nothing special. It could have done with a bit more choice -maybe a pie, chicken dish or some pasta. Otherwise, ok. Service was the best thing-staff excellent and very attentive. Only gripe was that we booked a table in the bar well in advance for New Years Eve and arranged to eat later (around 8.30) so we had a hope of seeing midnight. We checked in and went for a [late] lunch only to be rung by the hotel to say we had to eat by 7 pm! This spoilt our eve as we weren’t that hungry. We tried to pace the courses and asked for a break in between starter and main but it arrived anyway shortly after. Having finished our meal by 8.30 we never managed midnight so was all a bit disappointing. Having said that, it was a lovely hotel, with lovely staff and the basement room was the best dog-friendly accommodation we’ve had. Hoping to stay again next year but would want assurance we could eat a bit later.
