Have stayed at the Mitre on quite a few occasions, mostly for football matches. I love the fact that it is great value for money, so central and that the bar and restaurant are so vibrant.
I wouldn’t stay here again apart from the hotel definitely showing its age all the floors are uneven, our bathroom floor was literally slanted.
The walls are paper thin, we could hear the next rooms conversation word for word. I could get over all of that but my biggest issues was the mattress was so thin and hard my back is only just recovering now and the room was absolutely freezing ( probs because the windows either didn’t shut properly or they are just so old) this hotel is cheap so if you’re going for a night out in Manchester and get very drunk it’s a good hotel for anyone else not so much

Disliked: Staff & service
Everything there that was required for the price of the room
Tv in strange place and bathroom v small but clean
Stay was horrendous. Small room and tiny bathroom which you to need to negotiate carefully not to bash your toe on something. Bathroom had a Maserator fitted to pump water out as did all other rooms . Every time someone flushed or ran water the noise woke you up . Tables been put away outside around 9pm were all dragged about the place instead of lifting them into place . Woke up with the noise again. Walls are paper thin and you can hear everything in the room next to you . Couple next door decided to have sex with the headboard bashing of the wall around midnight . Woken again . All in all managed about 4 hours sleep and was going to work early . Shame as the bed was comfortable. Oh and limited tv channels no reception on normal channels . Creaky floorboards . Good location for the shops but no use if you are going to work . Far too noisy . Glad I only booked for 1 night to try it out as I was going to book for the week . Sorry but won’t be back . Was knackered all day at work with lack of sleep .

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Everyone was very friendly. It definitely is an Old hotel. No big frills. But it was what we were looking for.
Absolutely ideal for a quick stay, especially if attending the arena for a show! My friends and I stayed here for a gig at the arena and got a triple room. It was clean enough, had fresh towels and bedsheets, and was a 5 minute walk from the arena doors which was absolutely ideal. We got a free breakfast with our stay at the conjoining pub, which was pretty average but can’t complain for free. The room doesn’t have its own bathroom, and the communal bathrooms definitely needed some tlc, but we’re fine for a quick shower in the morning before check out. Staff were super friendly and helpful, and also let us leave our suitcases with them whilst we shopped the next day after checking out. Would likely stay here again!

Staff great had problems finding entrance too hotel and lots off steps before you get too reception but enjoyed stay and great breakfast will be back
Overall a really good stay, Room 17 was really quiet couldn't hear any bar or street noise.
Staff were friendly and helpful, from check-in to breakfast and check-out.
Yes, it's an old building and the hot water is hit and miss as most hostelries of that age are.
The breakfast selection was decent, it's kept warm in chafing dishes so will never be red hot. Was perfectly acceptable for us however.
We didn't eat dinner but the menu looked good.
Unfortunately I feel the prices of hotels have been hiked high because its the christmas period, so normally a hotel at this price i paid would have been alot higher standards wise. And with this in mind it really did not live up to expectations.
Lovely find in an ideal location in the heart of the Christmas markets and easy walking distance to station and arena.
We had a triple room - very spacious with comfy beds.
Great friendly staff
Lovely breakfast
Will definitely return
