Better than I was expecting. Don't get me wrong the rooms are tired and needs redecorating but I slept so well! It's very basic so don't go in expecting anything fancy but for the price it's great. plus the location is fantastic.

We had two rooms - in one the hot tap was full on fast-running all night, steamy windows! The second had a very hot radiator that couldn't be turned down or off. The energy bills must be enormous - I had to sleep on top of the bed (windows don't open). The bar was also too small and had a huge queue. And they overcharged me

Room was basic but clean with a lovely view of the beach and sea. staff kind and courteous. amazing shower and bathroom was spotless. Pleasant lounge and bar area. And for the price paid cannot fault it at all. Will definitely be coming back next year

Having an initial issue with our allocated room on arrival we were quickly moved to another without any fuss. All the staff were lovely and although there are some areas inside and outside the hotel in need of renovating/updating it did not bother us on a whole. But...Our major problem were the lifts, they were either out of order or took as long as almost 30mins for my partner to get in. We were on 5th floor and due to him having a history of heart attacks and COPD using the stairs was a definite no for him. One area that would benefit massively from updating

Room was unbearably hot—only a fan in the wardrobe. Shower over bath was broken, so bath only. Loud pub noise disrupted sleep. Fire alarm at 11:30 PM due to faulty sensor (per manager). Worst hotel room I’ve ever stayed in. No way to contact directly to complain and contact form not working.

The room was so poor we had to leave. And did not even stay the night. When walking into bathroom felt like we might fall through. The walls were covered in stains and who knows what. The beds were shabby matress covers were scratched. What appears to be a pet friendly hotel is that when they find out you have a pet they move you to these rooms. When handing key back got no offer of a refund. Also another couple with a pet also did same as us.

We were given the option on check in of a lower or higher floor room, we chose the higher floor & were pleasantly surprised to find out we were in one of the turret bedrooms which had a unique & gorgeous sea view. However, we were slightly disappointed by the cleanliness & state of the room. Curtains were gaping making it look untidy & annoying when on our first 2 nights a flashing light on the roof was coming directly into our bedroom through the gaps in the curtain that woke me several times. Plug sockets were only on one side of the room leading to having to move the kettle & a bedside lamp so we were actually able to use them. Also, when the neighbouring room used their bathroom an horrendous would then come up through our plug holes, which also woke us. Overall, the room looked very tired, none of the furniture matched & all very old. This room has so much potential if cared for properly. Along with the view some other good points was a comfortable bed & well managed temperature. Breakfast time was well managed, staff worked very hard to ensure a good turnover of guests arriving & leaving. Food was of average standard & choice but with good supply. However, suspect the apple juice is watered down. We enjoyed the evening entertainment of bingo & show on the Saturday night. Staff running these evenings & the bar staff are all very professional & friendly. Reception staff also professional & friendly. Just more local knowledge would be helpful for recommendations.

I booked this hotel as it came up when I searched for hotels with pools in Scarborough. However this hotel does not have a pool much to our dismay… when we asked we were told we could walk up the road to their sister hotel and pay a surcharge to use their pool!! This was so disappointing as when I book a hotel with a pool it because I would like it to be in the same building, to use at my leisure and with no extra charges! So I had 2 very disappointed children. The location was excellent however, right on the beach front with a path straight down from the hotel. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. The room was warm and comfortable and we were lucky enough to have an amazing sea view room! The breakfast was average and slightly disappointing for such a grand hotel. The cold selection very limited and the cooked breakfast was very bland and tasteless. Finally I booked a family room which was advertised on Hotels.com as having 4 beds but when we arrived there were only 3 plus a very small sofa which luckily my 7 year managed to squeeze on for the night! Overall a pleasant but disappointing stay.

Beach view from room was stunning, but windows desperatley needed cleaning. Lots of tea and coffee which can easily be replenished at reception (staff were much better this time!) ; rooms aren't tidied unless you request it, which I really liked as you're not disturbed. Location is fantastic, over 100 steps down to the beach but there is a public lift for about £1:50 return, or a number 2 bus every hour which drops you outside the hotel from the sea-front. Lots of eating places plus banks/betting shops near by and a very, very good One Stop round the corner. Parking is a nightmare, beware that I saw a traffic warden handing out tickets early Saturday morning. Lift to lower floors (reception is floor 4) really poor/slow/only carries 3 people. Helps burn the calories though - over 80 steps to reception. Bathroom and shower were really good. Overall positives massively outweigh the negatives and love it here; come by train, burn those calories and enjoy the stunning views, beach/superb sea and the heart of Scarborough! Fantastic value in a place with real character thankyou!

1) Should've been made more clear that dog friendly does not include being able to eat in the restaurant. 2) Coffee capsules were not replaced for 2nd day. 3) Spa bath did not work properly. 4) Reception said they would bring up some drinking water, but did not.

Weather was okay however the hotel room needs revamping the ceiling was coming off and the windows were very dirty the bed was comfortable and the entertainment was good however the fire alarm went off at 3:30 in the morning for no apparent reason and then it went off again around 9:30am the staff were lovely and helpful but overall we spent as little time in our room as it was very small and didn’t live up to its pictures, the sights around Scarborough are lovely and fun though
