Visit to York

Staff are magic and valet parking is very very good. Whole place, barring the showers, needs refurbishing. The carpets definitely need a serious clean or replacement. A better area for use as a lounge by guests would be good. Outside is Noisy late at night, and early morning

The fire alarm went off twice in the middle of the night while we were trying to sleep. There was no fire. I had to get dressed and go to the main desk to find out we didn’t need to evacuate. There is no A/C or climate control and the room was very hot. Location and staff were very good. The included breakfast was excellent.

Fantastic location right next to York Minster. Room was very spacious and comfortable. The weather was warm/hot - the hotel provided not one, but two tower fans for comfort. Only had breakfast which was very good. Staff were very professional and friendly. Highly recommended.

Staff were wonderful, location can’t be beat. An easy walk from the train station. My only objection is that they had a portable air conditioner in the room which must have needed cleaning. I’ve been traveling for three weeks now and stayed in several different hotels in different parts of Europe. My allergies are not typically bad but the two nights in this hotel were so unpleasant. I barely slept because of congestion and sneezing. I suggest that the staff do a thorough clean of the air con filters/lines as I suspect there was mold.

Memorable Stay

This was a memorable birthday stay, our room had a direct view of York Cathedral was comfortable, clean. It had everything we could need and breakfast was also delicious even for us as vegetarians.

Charming place. The staff is wonderful and the location can't be beat. Laylit of the room was a bit odd and I changed my head on the ceiling more than once. However I think it was worth it to wake up to view of the Minster in the morning.

Great location for walking the centre of York. Rooms lovely. Noise from the road as there is a taxi rank outside the front facing rooms. The location and view of the Minster outweighs the noise. Great breakfast and bar. Parking very easy with valet. Will definitely stay again, and I will book directly with the hotel next visit, so I know what I am paying for.
