Brilliant stay at the Minster Hotel

Brilliant stay at the Minster hotel. Excellent location, we were able to walk to all attractions including the National Railway mueum. The Minster is just up the road and it's a short walk right into the city centre. Lots of good pubs and restaurants nearby. We used the Fat Badger, the Minster Inn (fantastic pizza and real ale), Cote Brasserie and the Star Inn the City which has a great terrace overlooking the river and excellent food. The breakfast af the hotel was lovely and the staff were friendly and helpful.

The room was lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was diverse with hot and cold options and we were served promptly. The hotel was walking distance from the shops and attractions. We slept very comfortably and conveniently parked at the hotel. I was really impressed with the hotel and would stay again when I stay in York for a visit.

Disappointing stay

Have stayed at the Minster before, booked a couple of nights in February for a birthday break. But disappointed that the builders were in, they did put posters all over apologising -but we would not have booked if we had known, nice room but when you have the builders in the room above (fitting a bathroom by the sounds of it) it simply spoils it. Also the heating didn't come on fully until 4pm and it was cold in York that week, we will be staying elsewhere next time.

The location of the hotel was excellent.We were able to walk all over York and felt safe doing so. Eating establishments, pubs and the York Minster itself were all very close. The breakfast was amazing! So many choices and very affordable. The staff was very friendly and engaging and we would not hesitate to come again.

The room was clean, fresh, and well equipped. It was disappointing not to have a bath but there was a huge walk in shower. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The communal areas were clean but dated. Breakfast was tasty, with lots of options and hot food cooked to order - no pricing given though so we only found out the cost on check out. The one issue we had was parking. We paid for 2 days parking on check in, however after arriving back from an afternoon trip, there was no available space. We were informed at this point that parking was on a "first come first served" basis. This had not been explained at check in, nor at booking or on the hotel website. Had we known this in advance, we would probably have not chosen this hotel. Luckily, a staff member offered to double park in the car park to free up a space for us. The location was great, only a few minutes walk to the city centre. On the whole we had a pleasant stay but wouldn't return due to the parking issue.

Great stay in a great location

We had a lovely stay at The Minster York. The room was very spacious and clean and we had a lovely big four poster bed. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. Great location, just 5 min walk from The Minster. The hotel is an older hotel but this just added to the charm.

Very close to the city centre, and the staff is very nice. Room and toilet were not super clean, that's the downside. Probably I won't be back. The Wi-Fi connection was poor, I did say that to the staff during the checkout out and they said they would reboot it, so hopefully this will work, as I couldn't work from the room for the whole staying

The Minster Hotel is in a great central spot in York where you can leave the car in the hotels car park and walk around York.

Terrible experience

Arrived. Looked inviting. Got to room. Only half cleaned. Dirty coffee mug, & plastic cup in bathroom. Carpet not hoovered. Ceiling and wall in bedroom flaking paint and stains from light fitting. Bathroom shower again poor decoration Signs that hotel is being refreshed which I understand is working progress I’ve stayed in better accommodation at low end of stars/ratings. To say this hotel has 9.4 in review which is why we chose this hotel it is a joke. Breakfast was nice and dining room staff helpful & friendly. Won’t be returning.

A lovely very clean hotel, staff very friendly. Extra tea and coffee etc was left outside our door for the next day if you didn’t want to be disturbed. Would have liked some hooks on wall for hanging coats as you go into small hallway leading to bedroom. Would definitely stay again
