Lovely staff and food

We stayed for 1 night as a halfway stop en route, the staff were extremely helpful and polite. Unfortunately the facilities in the room were lacking, the bed was very low and the tiny shower door didnt open fully i had requested a low floor room because i have mobility issues at the moment, but was placed up a flight of stairs. They need to make it absolutely clear on their website that they are not suitable for anyone with mobility problems. The food was really good as was the beer.

We chose this property for it's location, right in the old part of York, which as fantastic. The room itself was noisy, over crowded with a few broken items. The sheets didn't fit the bed properly and kept coming off in the night making it quite uncomfortable.

There is really not anything positive I can say. The bed was terrible! Thin, bad quality mattress, thin lousy pillows. Noisy outside the window from the pub downstairs until after 1AM Door lock was hard to use, we almost locked ourselves in. Mold in the shower. Just don't do it! We loved the town of York, but had a miserable night in this "Hotel"

The place itself was lovely a little dated in the bedrooms but so clean, short walk to the shambles, food at the hotel was fantastic excellent price, can recommend the Eggs Benedict for breakfast, outside lovely seating area right by the river and last but not least staff are so welcoming very attentive 5 star service will be going back again

Lovely stay

Stayed here for one night - great room, comfy bed, clean en-suite. Easy self check in and staff were very accommodating to requests. Definitely stay here again.

The Walkergate Inn was a fab little pub with rooms to stay at. The room I stayed in was fab for the night, with a double, TV, kettle with tea & coffee. A bathroom with shower. The room was safe & secure & a 3 minute walk from the main town centre. The staff I ment on check in/out were warm & friendly. I would definitely stay there again.

Staff were very nice. Accomodations did not match the pictures. Room was painfully small. There was no place to open luggage. Full bed took up most of the room. No lighting by bedside, only one light overhead. Shower head sprayed water outside of shower and drain was so slow that overflow threatened to spill over onto floor. Only one outlet available and teapot needed to sit on floor to plug in because of length of cord. Mattress very thin futon. We were miserable.

Excellent location. The staff in the pub were friendly and delightful. The room was clean. The double bed in room 7 needs a new mattress and a wood slate is underneath the bed and should be fixed. But overall a very pleasant stay for the one night.
