Great hotel in Leith

This hotel is great value for money, considering the quality of accommodation, hospitality and food. It is in a lovely part of Edinburgh down by the Leith waterfront. The only negative I have is that the background music in the public areas is really depressing! Please change it to something else.

We had a fantastic stay! Big shoutout to Dalton at Reception for being super kind and always helpful! The customer service, facilities and location were all great, and we'll definitely be back!

Mixed review.

Restaurant was closed lunch and dinner. Bar food average. Reception staff off hand about luggage as we had a few suitcases and need to use back carpark n staff door at the bk to bring luggage through. We had a twin room which was fine. The double room was freezing n had an old radiator and very drsighty window. (Rm221). We were perplexed as we approached hotel as there is no direct sign to car park. Name of hotel on side wall not over door at front entrance. Later we saw Malmaison on side of front door but not visible on approach. We had to ask someone passing by if it was the Maison. Breakfast expensive but a good choice. Bar drinks, were weak a bit tasteless. Good location, due to Storm one could not go out. Nor attend Rabbi Burns event of RYB. Dissapointing the hotel didn't celebrate Scotland's finest Bard in someway. In all some of staff on reception need to be more helpful.

We visited with our dog in January. The room was clean and comfortable. We had kindly been left a dog bed, bowls and a doggy goodie bag for our dog which was a lovely surprise.

Declining standards

Standards are declining at this hotel that I have been staying at multiple times over 15 years. My check in billing was incorrect, taking a frustrating amount of time to sort next day. My cooked breakfast (that costs over £20) was served with items missing and cold. The selection of food available and service levels has clearly been cut back and no longer a high standard like it used to be. Disappointed as one of my favourite hotels

Enjoyable 2 nights in Edinburge

Really enjoyed my stay. Reception staff excellent, gave us a room upgrade on arrival and were generally very helpful. Room was clean and breakfast very nice. Was great to be able to park the car and get the tram into town. Ordered room service for a treat and was left disappointed. Charged £100 for 2 burgers, 2 cokes and a sauce. Fair enough room service is expensive and I probably would have paid it anyway but charges were unclear. Food arrived cold (no closhes used). Burger buns were hard. Ordered a bearnaise sauce from menu in room, told they don’t sell it. Offered steak sauce, told it was a cream based sauce. Received bbq sauce mixed with hot sauce. Staff, although helpful, could be more polished for a hotel of this standard. Overall was a nice place to be and would stay again.

We luckily received a free upgrade to one of the suites. The room was absolutely fantastic. The bed was massive and incredibly comfy, we didn’t want to get up in the morning. We also ordered room service and the gentleman that brought it up was extremely friendly and helpful. 10/10, would highly recommend.
