Weekend Stay
Enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch and a pretty comfortable stay overall. However, next morning the shower would only pump scalding hot water through (no cold) the water was too hot to take a shower.
In our previous stay at the same hotel, the shower wouldn't work at all - worth testing when you first arrive in case you need a chnage of room
Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and the bed was really comfy. A good location, lots of places to eat nearby. It’s not far from the metro centre and Newcastle city centre.

Don’t stay in old section unless you have earplugs
Having stayed at this hotel before in the newer section and had great stays so l didn’t hesitate to book again for a nights stay while we were attending a birthday meal.
Sadly once checked in we were told we would be staying in the old original building. The room 211 was clean and tidy but the furniture and bed had seen better days- it’s crying out for a refurbish. The bathroom was spotless but the shower fixings had parts missing the fan in the room made a terrible noise. The walls were thin so could hear our neighbouring rooms.
The mattress was thin and broken - this needs to be changed. There was a constant loud drone noise - must be the ventilation/air con or heating blowers - they kept us awake all night - so along with a lumpy mattress - it was a terrible stay.
Breakfast was good when we were eventually served - not the staffs fault - they need more staff when it’s half full. Portions were very small but apart from very salty bacon it was fresh and cooked well.
Overall unless I can be guaranteed a room in the newer section - I would not use this hotel again. So rooms 201 onwards stayer beware unless you take good earplugs.
Lovely gem just 10 minutes by taxi into Newcastle. All the staff were friendly and helpful from the receptionist to the dining room staff, especially Ann and John who made breakfast a unique experience. We will definitely consider staying there again in the future.
