We had an issue with our bathroom extractor fan which was humming all night long. In fairness we told reception the next morning and maintenance came and sorted it for us quickly. We unfortunately also had a leaky window which let in the rain. The room was okay with a comfortable bed and decent bathroom but lacked storage space. We did enjoy a very nice breakfast every morning and the hotel itself is very conveniently situated to the lanes and shops. Overall we enjoyed our stay and felt we got value for money despite the issues that we had.

This is a lovely modern hotel. The decor is beautiful with really unusual lightning, chandeliers, wall colourings and pictures. It is fresh, but comfortable. All staff were lovely, friendly and very helpful. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and shiny. The rooms are well laid out, with sufficient furniture for a comfortable stay. Breakfast is superb. Laid out ready to help yourself to whatever you fancy, with a wide choice of food. Again the waiting staff were charming. Only slight disappointment was the poor and relatively expensive evening menu. Not sufficiently so to lose a star as there are so many places to eat in the city, but we would have preferred to eat in the hotel, as the weather was very cold. The hotel is situated just about 5 minutes walk from where most of the attractions are situated, so perfect for exploring on foot. No need for a car. Although it is fairly close to the station, i would recommend using a taxi when you arrive. Very reasonably priced and very pleasant, helpful drivers. In spite of the cold we thoroughly enjoyed our break in York, and fully recommend this hotel.
