The grand is a beautiful hotel. The valet parking and reception team were brilliant. The rise restaurant had a great selection of food. I had the steak which was cooked perfectly. The legacy suite was very large. My only problem is the air conditioning in the room was almost non existant. We switched to maximum but still bareful anything comes out. The room was quite hot at night. Definitely recommend and looking forward to staying again.

Beautiful Hotel, Great Location & Wonderful Staff

We stayed at The Grand last weekend for 2 nights and absolutely loved it. The location is fantastic, right next to the York wall and only a 5-minute walk into the town centre. The hotel staff were so welcoming, and the doormen in particular were incredibly friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. We parked in the NCP car park just around the corner, which was really convenient. Although the pool was closed for renovation (something we were aware of when booking), our stay was still perfect. The rooms have been beautifully renovated, everything felt super clean and fresh, and the overall atmosphere was lovely. If you fancy any treatments / massages I do recommend pre booking before you arrive as all slots were fully booked when we tried to book on arrival. Popular option! On Friday evening, we had dinner at their restaurant The Rise. We ordered the sharing platter of beef Wellington and lobster, paired with a delicious bottle of red wine, absolutely amazing! There was also live music in the lounge/bar on both Friday and Saturday night, which added to the experience. The only downside was breakfast – at £30 per head it felt quite steep, so instead we ate out in town each morning at a lovely little café called Rise.Brunch, which we really enjoyed. I’ll definitely be staying here again on our next trip to York and can’t wait to check out the new spa and pool facilities once they’re open. :)
