Cramp rooms

I booked a room with no window, and cancelling would incur a booking fee since I made the reservation through hotels.com. The room was the same size as the double bed, featuring a cramped cubicle shower and toilet, and cost £155. By the end of our first day, the shower drain emitted a foul sewage smell, prompting a necessary room change to a twin room the following day. This new room was an improvement with windows, but it lacked tea and coffee facilities. Instead of having refreshments readily available in rooms, if wanted, we had to purchase them from the machines at reception. While the staff helped move us, they could benefit from a more polished appearance.

Value for money.

Room was fine, shower light stayed on all night, could do with it dimmer, noise from other room showers and main light would be better between the beds, not against wall. But for price and being in the city it was good value and Chinese restraint next door very handy

I'm not one of those who expect a 4 star hotel for an outlay of pennies but surely there must be reasonable threshold of minimum standards. 3 nights and my room wasn't cleaned once. The contents of my bin was higher than a Bob Marley fan. Initially there was no electricity in my room. A member of staff came and said the power unit looked unsafe. He took my spare key and went to consult with "someone". Like Captain Oats in Robert Scott's expedition to the South Pole, he never returned. It's location is decent and there's a cracking independent cafe around the corner.
